I’ve had a lot of proud moments in my career, but nothing says you’ve made it like when you get featured on your local news. Doing this segment on Good Day Sacramento was a game-changer for me because it reminded me that I got here not because of luck, but because of how hard I worked to build a brand that’s recognizable and trustworthy.  Becoming a highly respected professional in my field was the result of years of consistent dedication to my craft and although it took some time, it had finally gotten me to a place where others were looking to me as a leader and trendsetter in the beauty industry.

So for all my fellow aestheticians out there still building their brand, this post is for you. Today I’m sharing 3 tips that helped me build my brand.

#1 - Know Your Ish!

You have to be good at what you do and be knowledgeable about what’s happening in your industry. Some of the ways that I stay on top of trends is to continue to educate myself about the latest microblading techniques, get new certifications, or attend trainings. This keeps me current and always on the cutting edge of the best techniques and ways to serve my clients.

#2 - Have a story to tell.

Have a unique story to tell about your business? Tell it! People are drawn to brands that they can relate to. For Sugarlillies, I made my grandmother, Lillie Mae, a part of my story because she inspires me and taught me so much about being a good businesswoman. Her passion for serving her clients has been kind of a “north star” for how I strive to provide the BEST customer service. So telling her story helps my customers know what to expect when they deal with me.

#3 - Share your work!

Whether it’s Instagram, Facebook, Snapchat, or doing public demos at the local Saturday flea market, you’ve gotta find ways to promote your work or people won’t know you exist. So get yourself out there. Get a YouTube channel and ask your clients if they wouldn’t mind you recording while you work on them and posting on your social media. Post tutorials online so that people not only get a feel for the kind of results you produce, but you can also can start to establish your voice as an expert.

Stay tuned for more tips as I share my entrepreneurship journey.

XOXO
